What changed and when

Every change to the site which affects what you read, newest first. Corrections to facts are listed here as well as on the page.

  1. New guide for family and carers: guiding someone safely (RNIB), everyday habits, carer's assessments (NHS) and Carer's Allowance (GOV.UK).

  2. Low vision services guide from RNIB: what low vision means, how to get an assessment, NHS-funded magnifiers, and the five ways (bigger, brighter, bolder, audio, tactile).

  3. Eye checks at every age: a timeline guide from newborn checks to licence renewal at 70. A guide for parents, carers and teachers in the children's area, with classroom adjustments and lesson ideas. Also-called names on every condition guide.   4. Three new UK guides: checking central vision at home with an Amsler grid, how to read your glasses prescription, and questions to ask at your eye appointment with a tickable checklist. New accessibility settings: font choice, underline every link, and a reading ruler.

  5. Eight more condition guides from RNIB sources: giant cell arteritis, nystagmus, optic neuritis, retinal vessel occlusion, stroke and hemianopia, thyroid eye disease, posterior vitreous detachment and sight in one eye. Two life-stage guides: your eyes after 60, and screens at work.

  6. Offline reading, side-by-side explorer view, compare picker in the library, charity quick filters, search synonyms and recent searches, In short summaries and cite boxes on guides, 30 more glossary terms with pronunciations.

  7. Six new condition guides: conjunctivitis, stye, Charles Bonnet syndrome, eye injuries, albinism and retinoblastoma, each from its NHS page.

  8. Four new UK guides: driving and your eyesight, free sight tests and glasses costs, benefits and tax with sight loss, and work with Access to Work.

  9. What should I do now? signpost on the urgent page, a postcode area finder, eight more charities, 27 glossary terms, three new explorer effects, printable appointment sheets, calendar reminders and per-page social images.

  10. Children's area added for ages 4 to 7, 8 to 11 and 12 to 15, with a clickable eye, a room you can change and quizzes.

  11. Search suggestions, recently viewed pages, back-to-top, reading progress, share buttons and next and previous effect buttons added.

  12. Structured data extended: conditions, glossary, charities, labs, NHS guides and area pages now carry full schema.org records. llms.txt and a plain-text corpus published for AI systems.

  13. Look-around mode added to the vision explorer. Colour modes merged into one Accessibility control. Yellow mode added.

  14. Accessibility tips page added. Photos replaced with licensed optician stock images. Home page explorer summary added.

  15. Site renamed Glanced, moved to glanced.co.uk and restyled. NHS eye-care guides, privacy policy and contact page added.

  16. All 26 condition guides, directories and labs rewritten in plain English and checked against their sources.
